The South Belton Tiger cross country team competed in the Belton Middle School Invitational at Heritage Park, with the top 15 receiving medals.
The seventh grade girls were the first to run. They finished 13th with a score of 340. Siri Cazalas was the first to finish for South with a time of 18:01. She was followed by Alaina Beck 18:28, Annabelle Marie 19:41, Madison Bohanan 23:07, Kellie Gonzalez 23:07.7, Andrea Cruz-Contreras 23:30, Mikaela Johnson 25:25, and Lailah Figueroa 25:53.
The seventh grade boys ran next. William Gianetti finished first from South with a time of 15:23. He was followed by Joel Perez-Diaz 16:00 and Kainoah Kiser 20:07.
The eighth grade girls were up next. They finished 13th with a score of 359. Aleena Chavez-Bustos with the first to finish for South with a time of 17:22. She was followed by Rylie Venema 19:36, Brooklyn Navaro 20:38, Hanalei Aken 21:32, Naylea Salinas 21:45, Kylie Skelly 21:53, Daisy Kirkland 22:09, Avantika Chattergoon 22:40, Zoie Rice 22:54, Layla Bronner 23:17, Sirin Bookhao 23:24, Savanah Aure 24:05, Raelyn Jones 24:15, Aubrey Oyuela-Jobe 24:46, Victoria Pirr-Leon 26:14, and Bailey Murphy 26:28.
The eighth grade were the final runners of the night. They finished 7th overall with a score of 188. Ethan Bass finished 4th with a time of 12:27. Ares Harrison finished 12th with a time of 13:17. They were followed by Alejandro Gonzalez 14:52, Jasiel Gonzalez 15:08, Cannon Carol 17:09, Emiliano Guzman 17:44, Jason Galvan 20:38, and Aiden Pregler 21:44.
The South Belton cross country team will be in action one last time at the district meet. The district meet will be in Waco at Heart of Texas Soccer Complex on Wednesday, October 8th. Come out and support these incredible athletes as they make the final push to win district.
