Lady Tigers Battle Back and Show Growth Against Travis

The 7th Grade A Lady Tigers took the court for their final regular season game against the Travis Mustangs, battling through three competitive sets and showing determination, teamwork, and improvement as the match progressed.

South got off to a slow start in Set 1, struggling to adjust to Travis’s style of play and find their rhythm on the court. Communication and serve receive presented challenges early, making it difficult for the Lady Tigers to establish momentum. Despite the rocky start, the girls continued to compete and worked to make adjustments.

In Set 2, the Lady Tigers came out with renewed energy and confidence. Their communication improved, passes became more controlled, and the girls began finding their rhythm. Stronger serving and defensive efforts helped South build momentum as they worked together to keep rallies alive and create scoring opportunities.

Set 3 brought another competitive effort from the Lady Tigers as they continued battling for every point. The girls showed determination and resilience, working together defensively and making adjustments throughout the set. Their ability to respond after a challenging start highlighted the team's growth and willingness to compete.

Maggie Rodriguez was lights out at libero, delivering an outstanding defensive performance throughout the match. Her quick reactions, hustle, and ability to read the ball helped keep difficult plays alive and gave South opportunities to stay in rallies. Rodriguez was a difference-maker in the back row, providing consistent defensive support when the Lady Tigers needed it most.

Defensively, Madison Stauffer, Bella Hinojos, Madisyn Sarinana, and Annabell De Avila provided valuable back-row support throughout the match. Their hustle, effort on serve receive, and willingness to go after difficult balls helped keep rallies alive and allowed South to create offensive opportunities. The back row continued working on communication, controlling the first pass, and keeping the Lady Tigers in system.

From the service line, Maggie Rodriguez, Maddie Hutton, Bella Hinojos, Annabell De Avila, Addison Bass, and Madison Stauffer contributed to South's efforts throughout the match. Their serving helped put pressure on Travis and create opportunities for the Lady Tigers to build momentum.

At the net, Ja’Liya Rodriguez, Zuri McAlister, Bella Hinojos, Annabell De Avila, and Maddie Hutton provided front-row support throughout the match. Their efforts to defend against Travis's attacks, challenge balls at the net, and create offensive opportunities helped South maintain pressure during rallies. The girls continued working on their positioning, timing, and communication as they battled to keep the Lady Tigers competitive.

The Lady Tigers continue to show improvement with each match, learning to overcome slow starts, communicate effectively, and compete together. Their determination and growth on the court are a reflection of the hard work they continue putting in each week.

The Lady Tigers will continue their season this Saturday, October 24, as they compete in the District Volleyball Tournament at Copperas Cove! The girls are ready to take what they have learned throughout the season and leave it all on the court. Game times and tournament brackets are still to be determined.

Let's go, Lady Tigers! ????
