The South Belton Lady Tigers 8A team traveled to Copperas Cove to take on the Lady Cougars from S.C. Lee. The game started out with some strong defense by both teams, with SC Lee taking a 2-6 lead to end the first quarter. South struggled to find their offense in the second quarter, trailing 4-13 going into the half. The second half was a completely different offensive game for the Lady Tigers, scoring nine points in the third quarter. SC Lee was able to hold the lead 13-21. South really picked it up in the fourth quarter , scoring 12 points, but fell short loosing 25-31. Leading the way in scoring was Isabella Warner with 23 points. Followed by Hannah Martinez with two. Natalie Stauffer, Analise Aguilar, and Rylee Tyler played strong defense on the night.
The South Belton 7A basketball team started out behind off the bat to S.C. Lee. Dehlilah Martinez quickly scored a basket ending the first quarter 2-3 Lee. In the second quarter the girls struggled with their passing and stopped taking shots. Lee took the win 8-20. Amiyah Cruz and Madelyn Rodriguez had some awesome defensive coverage under the basket, and Dehlilah Martinez had a great couple of defensive steals. The Lady Tigers compete again against Cove Junior High, Thursday December 7th at 5:30pm.
In 7th grade action 7B had a great start with Isebella Trevino scoring two buckets in the first minute of the game. Natalie Mott added two points to end that quarter 6-2 SBMS. We had many opportunities to score in the 2nd quarter but we were unable to find the bottom of the basket. In the 3rd quarter it was dejavu , we played good defense and had many offensive rebounds by we were unable to score. Going into the 4th quarter scoring came from Jaylene Perez, Audrey Soosema and Olivia Henderson all contributing a bucked to finish off the game 12-2.
The South Belton Lady Tigers will be traveling back to Copperas Cove to take on the Lady Bulldogs on Copperas Cove Middle School. They will play on Thursday, December 7.
