Ni'Yetta Wimes scored the first bucket in the first quarter to set the tone for the rest of the game. Wimes and Natali Mott both added six points each. The bench did a great job of playing defense and kept Cove scoreless in the second and third quarters. Olivia Henderson was a rebounding beast defensively and contributed a basket. The Lady Tigers took their second district win from Cove 16-8.

The South Belton 7A basketball team started out strong taking the lead 2-0 off the tip. From there they didn’t let up, continuing drive to the basket and scoring. Dehlilah Martinez scoring 13 of our 25 points. Amaiyah Cruz and Arianny Rodriguez played exceptional defense. Jasmine Leal and Mia Staley also had some amazing rebounds that put us ahead. The ladies took their second district win 25-7. The girls have shown great improvement, and will continue to grow throughout the season.

SBMS 8B traveled to Copperas Cove Wednesday night. The team started off with strong defense, while scoring score points in the first quarter. The second quarter was more intense. Cove scored six while South Belton only scored four, but were tied at the half 8-8. The second half of the game, South Belton stepped up their offense with several shots made by Catalyna Siprian, Lorol Emrick, Abryella Martinez, and Aiyannah Little. Only two points were allowed for Cove. South Belton took the win 18-10, and took the win into our holiday break.

The 8A Lady Tigers were the second game of the night. They took on a strong Cove team, and battled the entire game. Unfortunately they could not come away with a victory. Isabella Warner led the way in scoring with 12 points. Followed by Analise Aguilar with six, and Genevette Nelson with two points. Natalie Stauffer and Nelson had a great night on the boards. These ladies continue to show improvement every week.

The Lady Tigers will be playing their home opener when they return from the holiday break. They will be hosting Rivervalley on Thursday, January 11.
