The 7A Lady Tigers played the first game of the night in the small gym. They played an undefeated Rivervalley team. They were not able to come away with a victory in their home opener, but played showing improvement from the beginning of the season. Madelyn Rodriguez played well all night on both offense and defense. Mia Staley was the leading scorer with two points.

The 7B Lady Tigers played their home opener against Rivervalley on Thursday night. South Belton took an early 5-0 lead to end the first quarter. Their offense lost their rhythm in the second quarter, but they still played tough defense in the second quarter. Taking 5-4 lead into halftime. The third quarter was a defensive battle, with South taking 7-6 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately South could not hold off Rivervallley in the fourth quarter. Falling 7-12. Natalie Mott and Olivia Henderson led the team in scoring with four a piece. Followed by Ni'Yetta Wimes with one.

The South Belton 8B Lady Tigers hosted Rivervalley Middle School for their home opener on Thursday. Rivervalley took an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back. South battled defensively the entire game, but struggled to find their offense. Damaris Alvarado and Carmen Gayden led the team in scoring with two a piece, followed by Catalyna Siprian with one. Lidia Bedolla played tough in the paint.

The South Belton eight A Lady Tigers played the second game of the night. They came out a little slow in the first quarter, going down 5-19. In the second quarter South turned it around offensively and defensively. Rivervalley took 13-25 lead going into halftime. South ran into some foul trouble in the third quarter, but Gloria Reyes and Analise Aguilar came off the bench and helped defensively. They finished the third down 19-34. South came out strong in the fourth refusing to quit, scoring 12 points in the final quarter. Unfortunately they fell short in the end 31-46. Leading the team in scoring and having a great overall game offensively and defensively was Isabella Warner with 20 points. Twelve of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Followed by Leimya Palomares with seven points, and Rylee Tyler and Genevette Nelson with two a piece. Hannah Martinez and Nelson had multiple rebounds throughout the night. Natalie Stauffer played tough and was all over the court. Natalie Goulet, Mia Gonzalez, and Amber Carillo played well coming off the bench. The Lady Tigers were not able to come away with a win, they played tough for four quarters, refusing to quit.

The South Belton Lady Tigers will be back at home to take on Travis Science Academy on Thursday, January 18th.
