The South Belton 7A Lady Tigers took on the Lady Broncos from North Belton on Thursday night. South played well in the first half and continues to show improvement. The second half the Lady Tigers picked up their defense, holding North to only nine points the entire second half. Madelyn Rodriguez was leading the scorer with three points. Abigail Salinas and Mia Staley each contributed two points a piece. Selah Morehouse finished the night with one point. Overall the girls played extremely well and work as a team.

The South Belton 7B Lady Tigers played the second game of the night verse North Belton. South took an early 8-2 lead in the first quarter. They played tough defense in the second quarter, only allowing North to score one point. South took a 12-3 lead going into the half. North made a small run in the third quarter, but South was able to hold them off. The Lady Tigers took a 18-11 lead into the fourth quarter. A lead that they would not surrender. South Belton came away with 21-16 victory. Improving their district record to 3-3 on the season. Olivia Henderson was the leading scorer on the night with eight points. Ni'Yetta Wimes and Natalie Mott contributed six points a piece. Ayla Wakershauser finished the night with one point. Kimberly Orona had a great defensive game. This was a great team effort, and the win gets the Lady Tigers into the district tournament.

The South Belton 8B Lady Tigers took on their cross town rivals from North. The two teams went back in forth to start the first quarter, with North taking an early 6-10 lead. South struggled to find their offensive groove in the second quarter. North took a 8-17 lead into the half. South picked up the pace to start the second half, and chipped away at North's lead. These ladies continued to play hard in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately they were not able to come away with a victory. Crystal Loeza lead the night in scoring with 11 points. Carmen Gayden contributed four points. Catalyna Siprian and Lorol Emrick finished the night with two points. Adriana James had numerous assists on the night.

The 8A Lady Tigers took on a tough Lady Bronco team from North. South opened the first quarter with the best offensive and defensive basketball of the year. They were able to break North's press right away, but were down 7-11 to end the first quarter. South had a hard time offensively in the second quarter. North held the lead going into the half. These ladies came out with eight points in the third, but it was not enough to hold off North. Leading the way in scoring was Isabella Warner with five points. Leimya Palomares, Analise Aguilar, and Natalie Stauffer all had three points a piece. Genevette Nelson had great night on the boards. Hannah Martinez and Jada Gage played well in the paint and contributed two points each.

The South Belton Lady Tigers will be traveling to Belton High School on Monday, January 29th to host the Lady Tigers from Belton Middle School.
