The 7A South Belton Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Bearcats from Lamar on Thursday night. South opened the game with strong defense, leading 3-2 to end the first quarter. The second had a little more scoring action with both teams scoring five points in the quarter. South took a 8-7 lead into the half. Lamar was able to make some adjustments in third, and took a 22-11 lead into the fourth quarter. These Lady Tigers never quit. They picked up their defense and found an offensive groove. Unfortunately they fell short in the end, loosing 20-25. Though she didn't have any points on the night, Madelyn Rodriguez had a solid offensive night. Arianny Rodriguez and Jaqelin Jimenez played well on defense. Leading the way in scoring was Delilah Martinez with seven. Followed by Karolyna Martinez with three. Abigail Salinas, Amaiyah Cruz, Madison Pack, Mia Staley, and Jazmyne Leal contributed two points a piece.
The second game of the night was between the South Belton 7B Lady Tigers and the Lamar Lady Bearcats. South played lights out defense the entire first half, not allowing Lamar to score a single point. Taking a 12-0 lead into half. The third quarter was much like the first half, except these ladies picked up their offensive play. Taking 22-3 lead into the fourth quarter. Defense never let up only allowing three more points in the fourth. South's offense was consistent all night long, coming away with 28-6 victory. Improving their record to 4-3. Melanie Garcia and Audrey Sooseman played great defensive games. Natalie Mott had her best offensive game of the year. She was leading scorer on the with 12. Followed by Ayla Wakershauser with four. Markayla Allen, Jaylene Perez, Isabella Trevino, Kimberly Orona, Ni'ayetta Wimes, and Olivia Henderson all contributed two points a piece.
The South Belton Lady Tigers will be back in action on Monday, February 12th. They will be playing there final regular season game at home verse Lake Belton Middle School.
