The South Belton 7A Lady Tigers took on their cross town rivals from Lake Belton Middle School. South kept the first quarter close, finishing the quarter down 4-6. Lake was able to find their offense. Taking 10-23 lead into the half. These ladies buckled down on defense in the third. Holding Lake scoreless in the third. South continued play strong defense in the fourth, but never really got their offense rolling. South fell short to the Lady Broncos 14-29. Abigail Salinas, Arainny Rodriguez, and Jaqelin Jimenez played strong defense. Madison Pack, Mia Staley, Karolyna Martinez, and Jazmyn Leal competed in the paint. Madelyn Rodriguez led the team in scoring with six points. Followed by Delhilah Martinez with four points. Amaiyah Cruz and Selah Morehouse each contributed two points on the night.
The second game of the night pitted the 7B teams against one another. Lake was able to take 4-6 lead to close the first quarter. South kept the game close going into the half down 7-11. The Lady Tiger's defense picked up in the second holding the Lady Broncos to only four points for the second half. Unfortunately South was not able to really find their offensive groove, loosing 11-15. Ayala Wakershauser, Markayla Allen, and Natalie Mott played strong denfense through out the night. Jaylene Perez, Audrey Soosemea, and Ni'Yetta Wimes played tough in the paint. Leading the team in scoring was Olivia Henderson with four points. Melanie Garcia and Kimberly Orona finished the night with two points a piece, and Isabella Trevino contributed one point.
The 7A/B Lady Tigers from South will be back in action this Saturday, February 17th. They will be competing in the district tournament at Midway.
