The South Belton Cross Country Team competed in their season opener on Saturday. They traveled to McGregor to compete in the McGregor XC Invitational.
The seventh grade boys and girls were the first to run. They finished seventh overall, with the top ten receiving medals.
Aleena Chavez-Bustos ran a 16.33 finishing in 14th place.
Aidelyn Macias ran a 16.49 finishing in 19th place. Rylie Venema 19.16; Dahlia Leal 20.06; Abigail Mundon 22.39; Bianca Bautista 23.44, and Jasmin Marin 25.44; and Mathew Guillen 22.52.
The eighth grade boys and girls were next to compete, and they finished third overall with the top ten receiving medals.
Abigail Gantivar ran a 15.04 finishing in 5th place. Natalie Mott ran a 15.38 finishing in 9th place. Ayla Wakershauser ran a 16.03 finishing in 17th place. Sarah Kirkland 17.2; Jaqelin Jimenez 17.29; Alihanna Knight 20.23; Samara Esparza 21.22; and Destiny Williams 22.14.
Jorge Enriquez ran a 14.46 finishing in 21st place. Julian Avila 15.23; James McGrath 20.17; Ernesto Aguirre 21.19.
The cross country team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 4th at the Dragon Middle School Relay at Heritage Park starting at 5:30.
