South Belton 7th Grade White team took on S.C. Lee at home this Monday. The offense had success running the ball early behind the Tye Sorola lead offensive line. A rushing touchdown by Ares Harrison put the Tigers up 6-0. The South defense held the Cougars to 4 & outs for most of the game. Zeke Biles, Hashim Zahid, Cannon Carroll and Malachi Rice were the stand out defenders in most of the tackles. On the final play of the game, S.C. Lee’s Quarterback connected with the receiver for a 70 yard touchdown that led to a heartbreaking extra point conversion. S.C. Lee was able to win the game 7-6.
The South Belton 7th grade Red team followed the White team against the same opponent. Cove Lee got off to a hot start with a long touchdown run, but the Tiger defense was able to respond with a couple turnovers and 4 & outs. Defensively, Lavantae Tyler, Gabriel McLeod, Ciro Pena, and Jeff McFadden made most of the plays. The Offensive line, led by Jeff McFadden, opened lanes for Belton’s ball carriers, Miguel Benavidez and Gabriel McLeod. Although the offense found ways to move the ball on the Cougar defense, they were unable to score because of the overwhelming amount of turnovers. The game ended with a 12-0 Cougars win.
