The South Belton 7A Lady Tigers traveled to Belton High School to compete in a rivalry game against the Lady Tigers from BMS. These ladies came out to compete.
The first set was back and forth between both teams, with strong serving from both teams. BMS took a lead in the middle of the game, but South was able to battle back with Gelissa Nelson serving five consecutive points. Unfortunately, South was not able to come away with a win. Loosing the first set 23-25.
The second set started similar to the first set with both teams going back and forth. In the middle of the set Amilya Mitchell had five consecutive service points, giving South the lead for the remainder of the set. Analysha Moaga followed with eight consecutive service points. BMS made a small run near the end, but it wasn't enough. South came away with a 25-19 win, forcing set three.
South won the coin toss and served first in the third set. Paisley Davis took over the third set, playing well at the net and serving seven consecutive service points. This gave South a 15-6 victory in the third set. Earning the Lady Tigers their first win of the season.
Madilyn Ortiz, Camilia Estrada, Kendyl Walker-Espino, Adrianna Gonzalez, Harper Demontigny, and Arianna Dickerson played well. Coming up with big plays all over the court. Nelson, Moaga, and Davis led the team in service points with nine a piece. Mitchell finished the night with seven service points, with Sirin Bookhao getting three, and Esmeralda Alvarado with one.
The South Belton Lady Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, September 19th to take on their cross town rivals LBMS. The game will be played at Lake Belton Middle School at 5:30.
