South Belton’s 7th grade team traveled to Tiger Stadium to take on the Lake Belton Middle school Broncos.
The White team found success running the ball early behind the blocking of Hashim Zahid and the Tiger offensive line. However, after scoring on the first drive, the offense was held to no points. The defense struggled to limit the Bronco playmakers in the first half, but held them to 0 points in the second half. Cannon Carroll and Ezekiel Biles did the majority of the tackling for the Tigers. In the end the Broncos won 19-6.
The Red team started at a deficit after the Broncos completed a long touchdown pass on the first play. Offensively the Tigers found success running the ball with Miguel Benavidez and Gabriel McLeod behind the physical South Belton Offensive line. Benevidez would end the game with two explosive touchdowns. Lavantae Tyler and Ronaldo Miranda each had a couple of sacks which made it tough for the Broncos to consistently move the ball. The Tigers played formidable defense, but a couple missed assignments gave Lake Belton the lead at the end. The Broncos won 22-13.
The next time you can see the Tigers in action is Monday, Oct 8th at Tiger field as they take on Midway Middle school.
