The Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Bearcats last night for another exciting night of volleyball.
South came out strong in the opening set, jumping to an early 3–0 lead behind the serving of Maggie Rodriguez. The Lady Bearcats quickly answered with a serving run of their own, and the Lady Tigers struggled to regain the early momentum.
From there, the set turned into a back-and-forth battle of serving runs. Bella Hinojos, Maddie Hutton, and Annabell De Avila each stepped up at the service line and helped South put together runs to stay within striking distance.
The Lady Tigers continued to battle, but the constant swings in momentum made it difficult for South to find a consistent rhythm. The Lady Bearcats were able to capitalize late and pull away, handing the Lady Tigers a 25–18 first-set loss.
Heading into the second set, the Lady Tigers looked to bounce back, but they struggled early to find their footing and maintain possession of the serve. The Lady Bearcats took advantage, keeping pressure on South and making it difficult for the Lady Tigers to settle into their offense.
Midway through the set, Bella Hinojos stepped to the service line and provided a much-needed spark, putting together an impressive five-point serving run that helped keep the Lady Tigers in the fight and gave South an opportunity to build momentum.
The Lady Tigers continued battling for every point, but down the stretch, the Lady Bearcats did a good job of keeping South out of system, making it difficult for the Lady Tigers to establish their offensive rhythm.
South fought with everything they had until the final whistle, but they were unable to complete the comeback, falling in the second set 25–20.
Although the night did not end with the result they wanted, the Lady Tigers will get back to work and continue learning and growing together. Each match is another opportunity to improve, build chemistry, and become stronger as a team. The Lady Tigers will take what they learned from this one and come back ready to compete!
